Synonym

Name (grch. Latin) meaning for the same or similar meaning, but phonetically different words or concepts. For example, "vintners, wine makers and wine" or "broom business, tavern, hedge management, winery and wine tavern" or "cooper and cooper" or "pressing and pressing." Words with the exact same meaning, however, are rare, there is often a sense of values or difference. For example, "head and master" or "home and home" or "vine and grapes." Particularly in very old, widespread Grape There is, in extreme cases 30, 40, 50 and more local and regional synonyms for a single species and their varieties. Often these are families of varieties, among which the one hand, varieties (nearly identical clones or mutants), but similar, closely related but genotypically separate species are summarized. Significant examples are Chasselas (Chasselas), Pinot , Heunisch , Muscatel and Trebbiano . Conversely, were sometimes similar varieties under a single name ( homonym combined), although it is Genotype These varieties are to be distinct. The boundary between varieties and clones without DNA sometimes difficult to draw. The synonyms are therefore particularly suitable for old varieties to be considered with great caution. Often the same or similar synonyms are used for different varieties. That may or may not indicate, however, on an equal identity or kinship. Not infrequently, the names of species are clearly independent as synonyms for other uses.

The multiple naming is partly because many older varieties were set together in a mixed vineyards. Examples are Elbling , Heunisch and Orléans (grape) . This often resulted in confusion and even false names. Other inaccuracies and multiple use of names for different varieties are also due to inadequate records. In the 19th Century, the authors have tried repeatedly to bring their local varieties with the varieties in the international literature in conjunction, as often happened without the direct knowledge of the foreign varieties. French varieties simply just names similar varieties in Austria have been assigned, because they thought they were identical. It later emerged that there are different varieties and synonyms assigned to a wrong original name (pseudonym) is based. Synonyms can be so only clues, and you need additional species descriptions, photographs and the vines in order to check the correct assignment to a species. Many Viticulture Institutions worldwide are now using molecular genetics DNA analysis attempts to resolve the many outstanding issues, including but living vine material is required. This is often a misnomer and does not represent the variety whose name it bears.

In the present work tries to the best of my knowledge and belief, the genotypic identity (that is "identical with the variety XY") or specify any remaining doubts or suspicions was to mention explicitly. With the variety of grape varieties and the often bewildering blur of kinship relationships or errors may occur. But not only the grape varieties, but generally when it comes to wine, there are many synonyms for many words that are different not only from country to country, but often, depending on where we live. This is reflected in the present work account and included for reasons of user friendliness in many terms, the most common synonyms as a separate word with reference to the principal name.
