The most important grape varieties
Canton with the same name in the French capital Switzerland near the border with France . The wine has been documented from as early as 998th The area belongs to the so-called weinbaubetreibende Three-Lakes Region (See below). The vineyards cover 605 hectares of vineyards in large part on the Lac de Neuchâtel (Neuchâtel lake), and Lac de Bienne (Biel) in a small part of the northern West Bank in the canton of Neuchâtel canton and a predominant part Bern . They are located in a 40-kilometer strip between the two communities and Le Landeron Vaumarcus mostly on calcareous soils on south-facing slopes in the foothills of the Jura.
In 1993, an AOC statute was enacted, the wine-growing communities in this state are Auvernier, Bevaix, Boudry, Corcelles-Cormondrèche, Cornaux, Cortaillod, Cressier Fresens, Gorgier, Hauterivian, Le Landeron, Neuchatel (with suburbs), Peseux, Saint -Aubin-Sauges, Saint-Blaise and Vaumarcus. The white wines are mainly Chasselas and Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Muller-Thurgau (Riesling-Sylvaner here) and Sauvignon Blanc. The red wines are Pinot Noir Orteen, and Gamaret Garanoir. A specialty is the salmon-colored rosé Oeil de perdrix that there are also weißgekeltert as Blanche. The Neuchatel Blanc is a sparkling white wine made from Chasselas (also called "Sternliwein"), which also Lees (Fr. sur lie) is produced. Known producers include Château d'Auvernier , Festiguet, Domaine Grisoni, Montmollin , Mauler and Ruedin .
