The most important grape varieties

The zone includes the eponymous municipality in the province of Perugia Torgiano. The varietal types of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir and Riesling Italico must contain at least 85% of each variety, the remaining 15% must be approved varieties of the same color. The Bianco is made from Trebbiano Toscano (50-70%), Grechetto (15-40%), and other permitted white varieties (up to 15%). The sparkling wine is blended from Pinot Nero (40-50%), Chardonnay (40-50%), and any other permitted white varieties (up to 15%). Rosso and Rosato is made from Sangiovese (50-70%), Canaiolo (15-30%), Trebbiano Toscano (up to 10%), and produces other permitted red varieties. The Torgiano wine was in the 1970s by the Umbrian wine legend Giorgio (D. 1999) created. For the Torgiano Rosso Riserva was in 1991 awarded the DOCG status.
