The most important grape varieties
DOC for a wide range of mostly dry reds, rosé and white wines in the southern Italian region of Tuscany in the countryside Maremma . The zone includes the town of Monteverdi Marittimo in the province of Pisa, and the municipalities of Campiglia Marittima, Piombino, Sassetta, San Vincevo and Suvereto in the province of Livorno. The varietal wines must contain at least 85% of each variety, the rest can be approved varieties of each color. These guys are Aleatico Passito, Ansonica, Ansonica Passito, Cabernet Sauvignon (also known as Superior and Riserva), Ciliegiolo, Merlot (also known as Superior and Riserva), Sangiovese (also known as Superior and Riserva) and Vermentino.
Some wines from the community should lead this Suvereto name on the label. This is Suvereto (50-100% Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and 50%), and the varietal (85%) Suvereto Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Suvereto Suvereto Sangiovese. Rosso and Rosato are vinified from Sangiovese (50-100%), Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), and other permitted red varieties (up to 20%). The Trebbiano Toscano Bianco is blended from (50-100%), vermentino (50%), and other permitted red varieties (up to 20%).
