The appeal lies in the southeast area of Touraine in the French wine-growing region of the Loire . The former VDQS area was classified in 2004. The vineyards cover 150 hectares in 14 villages on the banks of the Loire tributary of the Cher. Red and rose wines are blended from Gamay Noir (at least 30 to maximum 60%), Pinot Noir and Côt = Malbec (each at least 10%), and, optionally, Cabernet Franc, and (only if there was pre-2004 stocks) Cabernet Sauvignon. When Rose is also Pineau d'Aunis (maximum 30%) allowed. The white wine is made from Sauvignon Blanc (at least 70%), and Arbois Blanc and Chardonnay grapes.
