The community in Cote de Nuits in Burgundy wine has an ancient history. It was under the name "Vaoa" already at the beginning of the 7th Century called. From 9 Century it belonged to the monastery of Saint-Vivant Priory of the Order of Benedictine . In 1232 the monks were given vineyard. In 1651 they named the hotel "Le Cloux" in "La Romanée" order, because they had been discovered near Roman ruins. This small area with less than one hectare then evolved into one of the most famous Burgundy vineyards. The name of the best location has been added, as in many towns of Burgundy in 1866 in the names. The vineyards cover 150 hectares. The number of Grands Crus and Premiers Crus are world famous and the name of a term position. There are six Grand Crus La Grande Rue (1.4 ha), La Tâche (6 hectares), Richebourg (8 ha), La Romanée (0.84 acres), Romanee-Conti (1.8 ha) and Romanée-Saint-Vivant (10 ha). Tâche la Romanee-Conti and are in full possession of the winery Domaine de la Romanee-Conti , the red wines are fermented mainly from Pinot Noir with appropriate amounts of Pinot Gris and Pinot Liebault and are among the absolute top-quality wines in Burgundy.
The 14 Premier Cru vineyards cover 60 hectares. These are the Au Dessus Malconsorts, Aux Brulees (4.5 ha), Aux Malconsorts (7 hectares), Aux Raignots, Clos des Reas, Clos Parentoux, Orveaux En La Croix Rameau, Les Beaux Monts (11.4 ha), Les Chaumes (6.5 ha), Les Gaudichots, Les Petits Monts (3.7 ha), and Les Rouges Les Suchots. The other wines are marketed under the Village Vosne-Romanée appellation. As a special feature allowed the Village wines of neighboring community in Beaune, Burgundy use (which is not classified as AC), the AC-name Vosne. Domaine Robert Arnoux-known producers, are Bichot (Domaine du Clos Frantin), Sylvain Cathiard, Domaine Jean Grivot, Domaine Michel Gros, Angel, Alain Hudelot-Noellat, Domaine Leroy , Jayer, Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret, Domaine Armelle et Bernard Rion and Domaine de la Romanee-Conti .
