Community 16 km south-appellation of Dijon in the Côte d'Or . It has just 200 inhabitants, but one of the most famous wine-growing villages in Burgundy . The name is derived from the stream flowing through the town of Vogue. Here lay Cistercian in the 14th Century, the famous vineyard Clos de Vougeot , and enclosed him in 1330 with a high, mile-long wall. It is the only Grand Cru terroir and includes 50 acres of vineyards. The four Premiers Crus vineyards cover 14 hectares, of which the first is for white wine. The Les Clos Blanc (monopole of the Domaine de la Vougeraie) are, Clos de la Perriere, Les Cras and Les Petits de Vougeots. Only about five acres of wine under the Village-Vougeot appellation to be marketed.
The white wines are made mainly with Chardonnay Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, if necessary, the red wines from mostly Pinot Noir with Pinot Beurot if (Pinot Gris) and Pinot Liebault pressed. When red wine can theoretically be added to 15% of the white varieties. In the midst of the vineyards of Vougeot Clos du Château de Vougeot located (former Zisterziensergut) as part of "Les Trois Glorieuses" place (three glorious days), the annual meeting of the Wine Brotherhood Brotherhood of the Chevaliers du Tastevin place. Another attraction is a 16th of the -Century mill. Well-known producers are Domaine Bertagna, Mongeard-Mugneret and Vougeraie.
