Fritz Wieninger

The estate is located in Stammersdorf , A part of the 21 Vienna-Floridsdorf district, north-west the Austrian capital Vienna . The hundred year old traditional winery was up in the 1980s as a pure Winery out to young engineer Fritz Wieninger. has taken over the management of wine production. In 2005 a new production building in historic walls was put into operation. The vineyard area totals 25 hectares of vineyards on the slopes of the Bisamberg in South and Southeast locations in the vineyards widths Gabrissen, Mr. Wood, Young Berg, and Rothen Wiesthalen mainly on sandy, clayey and calcareous loess. On the famous Nußberg on the other side of the Danube, six hectares of vines in the lease. There are about two-thirds of the white varieties Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Muscat and Traminer, and Zweigelt one third the red varieties, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes cultivated. In the vineyard there is no mineral fertilization. For the humus supply a natural green manure system used with an appropriate mix plants for arid regions. The white wine grapes are destemmed grapes or depending on the desired type of wine and passed gently pressed or the whole cluster pressing. Then the juice gets into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks or wooden barrels in various sizes to the cooled digestion. When Chardonnay Grand Select this takes place in barriques of French oak. The reds are on the classic mash either in closed tanks, or fermented as in the case of Pinot Noirs in open vats of oak. You basically go through malolactic fermentation and then only in small oak barrels removed.

The top line is called "Grand Select," the principle without filtration is bottled. The flagship of the house is in the Bordeaux style generated "Danubius Grand Select" (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zweigelt). Other premium wines are already mentioned in barriques "Chardonnay Grand Select", "Gruener Veltliner Kassgraben" and the red wine blend "Viennese trilogy" (Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot). Every year around 200,000 bottles of wine are produced. About a third of the total production is exported, with Germany and the United States are among the two most important and largest customers.
