The estate is located in the municipality Westhofen (range Wonnegau) in the German wine-growing area of Rheinhessen . . The family vineyard is expressed as early as the 1663. Philipp Wittmann and his wife Eva will together with Philipp's parents, Günter and Elisabeth Wittmann, the management of the estate. The vineyards have been since 1990, according to ecological principles and from 2004 consistent with the guidelines of Biodynamic viticulture managed. These include, for example, uncompromising renunciation of Herbicides , synthetic chemical Fungicides , Insecticides and easily soluble mineral fertilizers. The vineyards cover 25 hectares of vineyards in the Westhofener documents Aulerde , well house , Parish and Morstein . They are planted about half of the Riesling and Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Albalonga. Quality criteria are low yields and selective hand-picking.

In the great vaults of gently pressed musts fermented Spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts in its barrel. The slow fermentation to the Flavourings remain. The wines are in traditional large oak casks and partly in stainless steel tanks, extended the best red wines in oak barrels. All wines are dry under the VDP classification designates. Only the best Riesling wines of a vintage bear the names of the above-mentioned documents. The fruity-developed estate wines usually come from several vineyards of the estate. The fruit ripening by high distinguishing local wines caused by selective harvest in the best vineyards. The first sheet wines include Riesling wines with a long-keeping their own distinct character. Dry wines are from the first position as a large greenhouse called, the fruit sweet and sweet wines are marketed under its predicate as Spätlese, Auslese, Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese. Are also produced flaschenvergorene sect. The winery is a member of the VDP (Association of German VDP), the biological agricultural land nature, and in the Rheinhessen wine Association Message in a Bottle .

Concentrated nose, dried stone and pomaceous fruit, dried herbs with majoram and some fennel, touch of tobacco, sugar candy, malty traces, some dried flowers, sharp notes of chili peppers, intense mineral notes. Surprisingly tart on the palate, firm and quite earthy, juicy, herbs and spices, elegant, lively acidity, prominent chalky mineral notes, fine tannins, floral nuances, some lemon grass and again some majoram, very full-bodied and quite persistent, but also surprisingly cool, completely closed, but comes back on the palate, cool aromatic notes develop, excellent depth and persistence, very compact, has something compulsive, still not approachable, very long finish. Needs a long time to develop, anybody drinking this in the next 3 or 4 years will be missing out on what he has a right to expect.
