Dear "R L Miller",

fortunately, the Max Ferd. Richter winery is one of those that provides an English website on the Internet - go to www.maxferdrichter.com for a fair amount of information.

The 2002 vintage of course was excellent on the moselle, not too hot, but enough to produce excellent flavours, and quite a lot of sweet botrytis wines - all with typical flinty, spicy character.

The Richter Auslese is possibly their best wine of the vintage, rated 90 by the Gault Millau guide, and 94/A by the Fine Wine Review, #97, Nov. 2003. Reviewers give it at least a 10-year maturation time.

Price of the wine ex-cellar is around EUR 19, or around US$ 21.00.

It certainly seems you have acquired a very fine Moselle wine here - possibly go back for more to study its development over the coming years.

Kind wine regards,
Peter Gebler
