More than 222.044 private and professional wine lovers have registered with Wein-Plus since the platform was launched in 1998. We welcome more than 300 new users each month. Around three-quarters are consumers interested in wine, while one-quarter is made up of professionals, such as 11.276 wine merchants, 26.130 wine producers as well as at least 1.477 wine journalists, as well as merchants for accessories, 4.763 restaurateurs, 1.252 fine food merchants, as well as agencies and many more. The Wein-Plus Convention has been established as a market and meeting place for the industry, and thus as a serious organizer of wine events. The first Convention, held in Frankfurt in 2013, attracted more than 3 000 visitors, the second event in Munich in 2014 drew more than 5 500 visitors, and the third event in Munich in 2015 attracted 6 300 visitors.

Wein-Plus was established in 1998. The founder, publisher and chief executive of Wein-Plus is Utz Graafmann, the head taster and editor in chief is Marcus Hofschuster. In total, the Wein-Plus team consists of 20 employees.

Wein-Plus is financed by means of membership fees and Advertising.

Target and User Groups

At the end of 2007, Wein-Plus participated in the NetObserver user study. In this, almost 13000 Internet users were questioned with regard to their demographic characteristics.

A comparison of Wein-Plus users with visitors to other Internet offerings showed that Wein-Plus users represent above-average purchasing power and have an above-average level of education:

  • More than half the Wein-Plus users are men aged 35 to 54 years old; close to a third are men older than 55 years.
  • Around three-quarters of Wein-Plus users are employed men, less than a fifth of users are not employed.
  • Significantly more than half of Wein-Plus users are gainfully employed and aged 35 to 54 years old. The share of users that has a university degree is also more than half.
  • More than a quarter of Wein-Plus users have a monthly nett household income of 2 300 to 3 500 Euros, a third has a monthly income of 3 500 to 5 000 Euros, and around a fifth have a monthly net income of at least 5 000 Euros.
